Abigail laughs and tells Elizabeth “welcome to parenthood.” Later on that night, Opal has trouble sleeping and tells Elizabeth she is worried about her grandmother. As Elizabeth is washing up, she confides in Abigail that she didn’t realizes the challenges of actually having sole responsibility over a child. She finds Opal at Abigail’s Café covered in sticky jam, and ends up getting some on her own white blouse. He tells her he made the deal to save his own skin.Įlizabeth finds out the hard way that babysitting a little girl may not be as easy as it looks. She tells him she is happy he is testifying against the railroad. Opal’s parents accept the offer.Ībigail heads to the jail to pay Henry a visit. Instead of taking Opal out of school, Elizabeth offers up her spare bedroom to house her student. This is something so big, it could either drive them apart forever and end Team Nathan, or it could drive them together in a way that leaves no room for Team Lucas.Opal’s grandmother has fallen ill and her parents let Elizabeth know she will be leaving school temporarily to go visit her. But if he even lied by omission (such as if he didn’t serve with Jack but did meet him), even that might leave Elizabeth very angry that he held it back. However, I can’t imagine Nathan just lying to Elizabeth. I’m going to guess that Andrew’s anger toward Nathan has something to do with Jack’s last assignment. Is it possible that Nathan investigated Jack’s death? Or that Andrew did an internal inquiry into Jack’s death that somehow involved Nathan back then? However, Nathan also told Elizabeth that he never served with Jack. Nathan was stationed at the same location where Jack was stationed, with their assignments possibly overlapping. There has been something that Nathan’s been holding on to that gets revealed. Kevin McGarry (Nathan) told Entertainment Tonight before the new season aired: “It’s unveiled this season why there is awkwardness between the two of them. However, Nathan has been a Mountie far too long to have been a recruit when Jack died. He died a hero, pushing two men out of the way and sacrificing his life in order to save theirs. In Season 5, it was explained that Jack led a group of recruits through a mountain during a training assignment, when a landslide happened. Some fans have thought for some time that Nathan and Jack might have been connected in the past. Of course, the preview cuts off before Nathan can answer. Then Bill tells Nathan: “You must know that Fort Clay was Jack Thornton’s last assignment.”Īnd then we see Elizabeth asking Nathan point-blank: “Did you ever meet Jack?” Įlizabeth is showing telling Rosemary: “He was stationed at Fort Clay three years ago.” And Rosemary says, “Nathan Grant?” Meanwhile, the Canfields, a new family, arrive to Hope Valley.
